"Engineers imagine..." was a public discussion that was held on 26 March 2013 at Arup's London offices, 8 Fitzroy Street. Organised by Arup Phase 2 in association with the exhibition "Traces of Peter Rice", the talk brought together six of Rice's protégées to speak about his influence on their work over the past twenty years. Speakers included: Jane Wernick, Andrew Sedgwick, Alistair Lenczner, Pat Dallard, Jean-Francois Blassel and Sophie Le Bourva. The event was chaired by Arup's Tristram Carfrae, who also cut his teeth on Rice projects. The discussion explored the broad spectrum of Rice's legacy and his impact on engineering today.
A medical phalanx comprising more than 260 female soldiers has been undergoing arduous training at the military parade village in Beijing in preparation for the Victory Day parade on September 3. Bethune medical phalanx will be part of the armament formation, which means the female soldiers will need to stand still throughout the almost three-hour parade. Therefore, standing upright for long periods has been the main content of their training. Wei Lai, one of the soldiers, encountered some difficulties at the beginning of the training. "I used to be an athlete and I am still a little hunchbacked and bowlegged, but none of this should appear in the military parade," said Wei. Having been a table tennis player for more than a decade, Wei spent so much time bending down to hit the ball th...
Director: Super Spy -Stephen Chow Sing-Chi, Lee Lik-Chee A tonnage of verbal comedy can't offset the fact that this Stephen Chow film works on both physical and emotional levels. Slow to start and rough around the edges, the film still rounds into one of Chow's most satisfying yet. Stephen Chow stars in (and co-directs) this wacky spy flick that's more Casino Royale than From Russia with Love. Chow plays dumb but cool as pork vendor/secret agent Ling Ling Chat (007), a forgotten Mainland agent called into action when some dinosaur bones go missing. Ubiquitous Anita Yuen shows up as his Hong Kong partner, who also happens to be double-agent working for the opposition. She's assigned to kill him, but slowly starts to melt before his strange, non-sensical charms. Meanwhile, any semblance ...
China's Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge opened to the public on August 20th for its trial operation. The maximum visitor to the bridge is 8000 every day. Let's take the look at the hilarious reactions from the first visitors.
i-Go-2 CHiNA - Beijing - The Forbidden City & 7 Palaces The Forbidden City in Beijing China - Imagine seven gigantic open spaces, each the size of two or three football pitches. Now put a palace in the centre of each and then line them up one after the other. That is my impression of "The Forbidden City" - with Beijing Soldiers making sure that it is protected. Soldiers marching up and down. Imagine 7 football pitches with a small palace in the middle of each. Start at pitch 1 see palace, go to pitch 2 & palace 2, do this 7 times & you have seen the Forbidden City. After you have walked it you might feel that it should have remained Forbidden.

Nation Outraged at Helpless Woman Almost Being Abducted in Beijing Hotel Hallway while No Immediate Help from either Hotel nor Police Just imagine: A woman, alone in a hotel, stalked – when the stalker eventually started using violence, passers-by look on indifferently, as this was just another brawl between lovers. Yes, the victim did cry for help, yet nobody took heed to the helpless cry. The chilling experience was shared by the victim whose account name on weibo is Wanwan (@弯弯_2016) . Her unnerving story soon triggered a nationwide rage online at the night of April 5. On April 3, 2016, Wanwan was travelling in Beijing and stayed alone in a Yitel, an economy hotel chain under Homeinns Co., Ltd. She booked the hotel on Ctrip’s website, a widely-used booking site in China. Upon returnin...

http://cp.bon.tv/source/index.php Bearings, wheels, screws, boards, abrasive paper, these things are all simple, rustic materials. It's hard to imagine they could play a role in art or beauty, but at Beijing's biggest skate park Woodward, those elements combine as a tool of self-expression. The skateboard is much more than a piece of sports equipment for many people, it is a statement of who they are.
It was so cold this morning! Going to one of Beijing's parks was high on my lists of things I wanted to see. I couldn't imagine that people would come outside on such a cold day, but, was I wrong! Our guide said his mother meets her friends here almost every day for several hours.
